Haida Gwaii ("islands of the people") is steeped in Haida cultural - an authentic, living culture dating to the last ice age - and rugged, pristine beauty.
Situated north of Vancouver and across the Hecate Strait from Prince Rupert, Haida Gwaii is well connected to the British Columbia mainland by daily scheduled air service and a year-round vehicle and passenger ferry service.
The Village of Queen Charlotte is located on the north shore of Skidegate Inlet, on the site of the Haida village Dadji'ngits lnaga'-I ("common-hat village"). Residents and visitors enjoy a rich cultural, natural and marine environment.
The Northwest Community College campus in the Village of Queen Charlotte is the longest established of its three campuses on Haida Gwaii. Located in the Queen Charlotte Community Hall, the campus is accessed by the ocean-side entrance, up three stairs to our classroom.
