The Smithers Campus, serving a population of approximately 12,000 in Smithers, Telkwa and surrounding rural communities, is situated in an easily accessible downtown location.
The Campus offers a broad range of educational opportunities, including programs that allow students to complete high school graduation requirements, prepare for employment or further post-secondary education to those that offer career training, university courses and Associate degrees. Short-term Continuing Education programs and courses are always popular, and are a great way to fulfill life-long learning needs and meet new friends.
The Smithers region is experiencing explosive growth in mining and exploration. In direct response to the needs of those industries for skilled workers, Northwest Community College's School of Exploration & Mining, in partnership with Smithers Exploration Group, BC Ministry of Energy, Mines & Petroleum Resources, offers industry-related courses, programs and training in various areas of mining and exploration. Check out the School's web page for more information.
Smithers is situated in the Bulkley Valley, a perfect location for outdoor enthusiasts. Residents enjoy hiking, fishing, kayaking and cross-country skiing. A world-class alpine ski facility, known for its deep powder and challenging runs, is located just a short drive from Smithers town centre on Hudson Bay Mountain.
Smithers Campus staff are temporarily relocating due to construction of our new campus. From July 6-July 9, you can visit us at our temporary location at NWCC School of Exploration & Mining, 3724 First Avenue, Smithers.
