Instructor
of Anthropology, Sheree Ronaasen, has
been teaching at NWCC since September
2002, and first initiated and coordinated
the summer Kiltope Field Studies program
in 2003.
Sheree began her University studies
at Red Deer College, and completed
her Master’s in Anthropology
at the University of Alberta. Sheree
has also taught and tutored at the
University of Alberta, the University
of Queensland, The Australian National
University, Okanagan University College,
the University of Northern BC, and
the Wilp Wilxo’oskwhl Nisga’a.
More recently, Sheree has been coordinating
and editing Kitlope research documents
which have been posted on the Royal
BC Museum, Living Landscapes, website,
entitled “Stories from the Kitlope:
Henaaksiala cultural heritage and traditional
ecological knowledge”. |

Gordon is an instructor of Geography
and Geology at NWCC. He has been
involved with the Kitlope Field studies
program since it’s inception in
2003. Last year Gordon was on a Professional
Development leave that included travels
throughout South America, Africa, India,
and SE Asia.
Gordon is a registered Professional
Geoscientist with the Association of
Professional Engineers and Geoscientists
of British Columbia. He received
a B.Sc. in Geology and Environmental
Studies from McGill University and
a M.Sc. in Geology from the University
of New Brunswick. Gordon has
been instructing at NWCC for six years
and has also worked as a geological
consultant for the mining and mineral
exploration industry in BC and throughout
Canada for the past 13 years.
His interests and hobbies are based
on a love for the outdoors and adventure. Gordon
is a dedicated backcountry skiing enthusiast
and enjoys chasing fresh snow in the
mountains all year around. However,
whenever heavy rains flood our local
rivers and creeks he is sure to be out
white-water kayaking. |
