In January of 2006, 10 international students
began their carpentry studies at Northwest
Community College. This was the result of a
partnership the College entered into with Vancouver
based Canadian Community College (CCC). ESL
training is also incorporated in this 16 week
long carpentry program.

Upon successful completion of the Carpentry
program students will receive their Level 1
entry level carpentry certificate, which is
equivalent to the first level apprenticeship
technical training.

Field Trip
In March students were taken into the Nass
Valley to learn about the First Nations tradition
of Oolican fishing. Along the way they stopped
off to visit NWCC's Carpentry / Timberframing
class being offered in Gitlakdamix (New Aiyansh).
