BIOL 203 Non-Vascular Plants and Fungi

Non-vascular Plants and Fungi is an examination of the biology of algae, fungi, lichens, and bryophytes. The material covered for each group includes morphology, physiology, origins, evolution, life history, economic uses, and ecology. Slide shows and local examples will bring color and interest to the classroom. Labs will involve dissections, observation of living organisms, and study of prepared slides. Wherever possible, local flora will be examined. Field trips will allow you to see these organisms in their natural environments, and will emphasize the rich and diverse flora of non-vascular plants found in the marine locales around Prince Rupert.
