Intro to Trades for Women

Have you considered a career in the trades? Women are finding job satisfaction, good pay and flexible schedules in the skilled trades - and opportunities for employment are abundant. This course explores the skilled-trades workplace from a woman's perspective and gives you the information you need to turn your dreams into reality.

Learn safe work practices, trades terminology, basic hand skills, safe use of tools and equipment and a general working knowledge of the trades.  Discover the path to an apprenticeship and career opportunities in the skilled trades.

This hands on exploratory course covers the following trades:

  • Mechanical
  • Welding
  • Carpentry
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical

Date:  February 5 - June 29, 2018

Location:  Houston Secondary School

Cost:  $1000

Prerequisites 

Note that a BC Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Check is required by the local school district for courses delivered at a public school.
