Does the library accept donations?
Yes. However, donations will be accepted only if no stipulations or restrictions as to their use or disposal are attached.
Can I get a tax receipt for my donation?
Yes. An appraisal of the "fair market value" of the donation is required. Fair market value is the price a willing buyer and seller would arrive at independent of one another and in full knowledge of all facts. It is not necessarily the insurance value. When the value of the donation is $1,000 or less, the Canada Revenue Agency will accept an appraisal done by the library. If the value of the donation exceeds $1,000 and finding an independent appraiser is difficult or involves unreasonable expense, the Canada Revenue Agency will consider an appraisal done by the library. Tax receipts for less than $25 will not be issued. Sample texts and other items received free of charge by the donor are not eligible for tax receipts.
