Jose Areekadan was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. He holds a BA in political economy from the Concordia University of Edmonton and a MBA from Dalhousie University. He is currently working towards a PhD in Business Continuity and Emergency Management. He also works as a Reserve Army Officer for the Canadian Armed Forces and serves as an Infantry Captain with the Calgary Highlanders.
Jose has worked for the United Nations (UNICEF) in East Jerusalem, occupied Palestinian territories. He worked with the Afghan National Security Forces as part of the Canadian Armed Forces NATO mission in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He also assisted on a University of Alberta research study for soldiers with occupational stress injuries in Kabul, Afghanistan
Jose has taught in management programs at post-secondary institutions in Canada, Bahrain, China, and Russia. Jose has traveled extensively as a result of his international employment. He has language abilities in Malayalam, French, Arabic, and Mandarin.
