Financial Aid - NWCC

The Rotary Club of Prince Rupert, through a donation to Northwest Community College Endowment Fund, has established an ongoing bursary fund of $250 per year. The first priority for awarding this money will be to full-time credit students attending class at the Prince Rupert campus or to Prince Rupert students attending programs in Terrace. Students from other areas would be eligible if the award was not made in the first semester to a Prince Rupert student.

The Real Estate Foundation of British Columbia (REFBC) is a philanthropic organization, working to build a healthy, sustainable future for our province. The Foundation’s overall aim is to transform land use attitudes and practices, thus contributing to resilient, healthy communities and natural environments. Our grant programs support progressive initiatives that address current challenges and plan for the future. Four bursaries of $500 each, two (2) in the Fall semester and two (2) in the Winter sesmester, will be made available to students enrolled in the University Credit program at NWCC.

Rhena Gardiner was an Early Childhood Education (ECE) faculty member who passed away several years ago. In her memory, AWU presents an award to a student who demonstrates maturity and commitment to their studies and who has a particular interest in supporting children with special needs.

Rio Tinto Alcan has established an ongoing bursary fund of $500 per year. This fund is the result of a donation to the Northwest Community College Endowment Fund. Applicants for the Rio Tinto Alcan Bursary must be enrolled in full-time credit programs and must have demonstrated financial need.

This bursary was created to honor the memory of former NWCC employee Sandra Bullock. Sandra was an active member in the Terrace Hospice Society and a champion of higher learning. This bursary will be awarded to a student enrolled in the Northern Collaborative Baccalaureate in Nursing or Home Care Attendant Program

Shelley Koopmans devoted many years of exceptional service to students at NWCC. She was a tireless advocate and acted with grace, care and understanding. This bursary is meant to honor Shelley's contributions and to continue a legacy in her name.

The bursary is self-funded through donations and will be adjudicated annually in fall. If funds permit, the bursary may be adjudicated twice per year.

Two $300 bursaries are available annually. One to be awarded to a student enrolled in full-time studies at the Terrace or Prince Rupert campus who is the son or daughter of a Skeena Cellulose employee. The second bursary is to be awarded to any full-time student from within the College region.

The NWCC Foundation is pleased to announce awards for the Business Administration program at the Smithers campus. There are 14 awards available: 8 awards of $500 for part time students (less than 60% courseload) and 6 awards of $1000 for full time students (60% courseload or more). To be considered for an award, students must complete an application form and submit it by June 30. Successful candidates will be notified and funds will be distributed at stable enrolment the following semester (Fall 2018).
