NWCC Announces Official Launch of Freda Diesing School

Northwest Community College is proud to announce the official launch of the Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art, the world's first post-secondary First Nations Fine Arts program. You, your friends and family, First Nations Elders, Chiefs and dignitaries, along with all community members are invited to join in the celebration of this important, historical event. When: Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Where: Northwest Community College, Terrace Campus Waap Haawk (Birch) Building, Room 2001/2002 Renowned artist and First Nations Artist in Residence (FNAR) program mentor Dempsey Bob , along with celebrated artists and FNAR program instructors Stan Bevan and Ken McNeil will discuss the purpose and importance the Freda Diesing School of Art and Design. The Northwest Community College Freda Diesing Collection will be on display for all to enjoy. Freda Diesing was among the vanguard of First Nations artists whose talents sparked a revitalization of the northwests art and culture. This exciting and significant Collection represents her legacy and inspiration to the First Nations art of the northwest coast. See you there!
