September 10, 2014, Terrace, BC--Northwest Community College is pleased to announce that Ken Burt has been named President & CEO of Northwest Community College.
Ken brings with him more than a decade of executive experience in the post-secondary education field including serving as Vice President of Finance & Administration at Dalhousie University from 2007-2013.
Prior to that, Ken served as VP of Finance & Corporate Services at Okanagan College in Kelowna. He has a successful record of anticipating and managing environmental shifts in funding, demographics, technology, politics and the economy.

Ken’s experience on our east Coast in Halifax and in the Okanagan will bring new perspectives and ideas to our programs,” says NWCC Board Chair Rhoda Witherly. “We look forward to getting to know him and to introducing him to our campuses and to Northern B.C. “
An accomplished leader who specializes in organizational redevelopment and establishing a culture of economic and environmental sustainability, Ken brings experience and fresh ideas to the role of Northwest Community College’s President & CEO.
Having grown up in the Northwest Territories, Ken is looking forward to returning to the north to lead a college that plays both a critical role in establishing the academic pathways of students, as well as an important resource in our communities.
“I saw the Northwest Community College assignment as an opportunity to give back more directly to the community,” says Ken, adding he is looking forward to returning to his roots. “I’m really looking forward to getting to know and to work with the faculty and staff at each of our campuses, and the leaders in the communities we serve.”
Ken Burt begins in his new role on October 1, 2014.
