New partners join Coastal Pathways Partnership

Prince Rupert, December 13, 2013 – The first ever Prince Rupert based class of students from the Millwright program at Northwest Community College (NWCC) gathered with a large number of citizens and visitors at NWCC, Prince Rupert Campus on December 3, 2013 to celebrate the Coastal Pathways Partnership (CPP) and welcome its newest partner. The CPP was created to respond to the needs of industry and provide an opportunity for residents to benefit from locally delivered trades training.

Since the original agreement was signed by Ridley Terminals Inc, Prince Rupert School District #52, and NWCC, a number of new partners have joined the CPP providing their guidance and financial resources. These partners are British Gas, Prince Rupert Port Authority, Smit Marine, Village of Metlakatla and at the December 3 event Pacific Northwest LNG became the newest partner.

On hearing of this latest industry partner joining CPP, NWCC President and CEO Dr. Denise Henning said, "We welcome this new, important collaborator to the Coastal Pathways Partnership. Together, we will build on the great initiatives the partnership is currently bringing to our Northwest communities and strengthen our ability to deliver quality education and training into the future."
