Pouyan Mahboubi, Coordinator and Instructor at Northwest Community College, joins The University of Victoria’s Ocean Networks Canada (ONC) as they embark on what’s expected to be its most exciting expedition. For the first time ONC will be using two ships, exploration vessel (E/V) Nautilus, on its first trip to Canada, and research vessel (R/V) Thomas G. Thompson. Both ships are outfitted with robotic vehicles that provide real-time video streams of the ocean abyss to observers around the world.
Pouyan Mahboubi has been an instructor of biological and coastal ecological sciences at NWCC, as well as, G.I.S. Technology since 1997. Pouyan is a registered professional biologist (RPBio) with the British Columbia College of Applied Biology. He completed a B.Sc. at the University of British Columbia, M.Sc. in Environmental Biology at the University of Guelph and is currently completing a PhD at the University of Northern British Columbia. Other than teaching, Pouyan also coordinates the Applied Coastal Ecology program .
