The Aboriginal Health Department of Northern Health and the First Nations Health Authority, Northern Region, have donated two awards valued at $1000 each to Aboriginal or First Nations students studying at Coast Mountain College in a health or health-related discipline. The donors are dedicated to their work with the Northern First Nations Health Partnership Committee and as such, provide these awards to illustrate their commitment to implementing the Northern First Nations Health and Wellness Plan, and their wish to support individuals who are also interested in this goal. Successful applicants of the Northern First Nations Health Partnership Committee Health and Wellness Award will be invited to a reception with the donors to celebrate their achievement.
To be eligible for an award, a student must:
- be registered in a health-related field (Health Care Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, Bachelor of Science - Nursing, University Credit - Health Sciences, Business Administration - Health Administration, Social Service Worker);
- self-identify as Aboriginal or First Nations;
- provide with their application, a written statement describing how their future plans reflect the mandates of Northern Health and the Northern First Nations Health Authority.
Academic merit and financial need will also be considered.
