Golf Scramble builds community and supports students

NWCC Terrace Golf Scramble builds community and supports students.

Terrace, BC — NWCC brought key players from the northwest BC business community together under one umbrella—a golf umbrella—for their third annual Golf Scramble and Silent Auction.

“This is the first time I’ve seen so much buzz around the event,” said Director of College Advancement Brian Badge. “Our goals were to increase awareness of NWCC and to collaborate with the business community in building opportunities for student success.”

The event included a golf scramble, dinner, and silent auction. All proceeds raised support student bursaries for those in need and scholarships to reward academic achievement. More than 150 people participated and over $40,000 was raised through ticket sales, auction bids, sponsorships, and donations. The event was held at Skeena Valley Golf and Country Club who catered the dinner. Professional Cook students from NWCC catered the lunch on course.

“It was an amazing event and the scenery was absolutely surreal. We especially enjoyed the lunch put on by the students out on the golf course; that was a nice added touch,” said Tyler Morris, of Houle Electric, the event’s Platinum Sponsor. “We firmly believe in building strong relationships and partnerships as well as investing in our community. This event enables us to do both.”

NWCC’s next Terrace golf scramble is scheduled for June 2, 2017, at the Skeena Valley Golf and Country Club.
