Special Education Assistant Program

Overview

NWCC will be offering the Special Education Assistant Program at the Houston campus in the Fall of 2016 until the Summer of 2017. This program prepares students to work at the paraprofessional level in the field of education. Special Education Assistants work under the supervision of a classroom or resource teacher to support students with the special needs in the elementary and secondary level education settings. The program builds the knowledge and skills students need to work as part of an education team, supporting the integration and education of students with special needs into a regular school classroom.

The SEA program also includes two 90 hour work-experience practicums that combine the theory learned in the classroom with the practical skills needed to work in the field of Special Education.
