Accommodation/Housing

The Terrace Campus offers convenient accommodation for up to 160 full-time students and is equipped for students with a physical disability. There are five (5) two story complexes with laundry facilities, common lounge areas with cable TVs, pay phones and shared washroom facilities on each floor. Most rooms are designed for double occupancy. Students are advised to apply IN ADVANCE.

Bookstore

Textbooks and course materials for College courses and programs, as well as general interest books, stationery, backpacks, clothing and memorabilia, are available at College campuses.

The staff also provide a special order service for students, faculty, staff and the community for any book from any location.

Career ResourcesTop of Page

Each campus has calendars, books and periodicals with information on a wide variety of topics including career planning, personal development, college and university programs. These resources are available through an Educational Advisor and at the Library.

Counselling (Personal)Top of Page

Students who are experiencing personal difficulties can access community counseling services by contacting any member of the Student Services Team, or an instructor.

Students who request this service are assured that their request will be kept confidential and that the service will be provided in confidence. This service is generally available off-campus weekdays. 

Food ServicesTop of Page.

On-campus food services are available at our Terrace Campus only. The cafeteria is open Monday to Friday, September through May, and offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, salads, desserts and appetizing entrées.

NWCC Library

The NWCC Library welcomes anyone living in BC's northwest to drop in, get a free library card, and use our collection and services. We have a library or reading room in every community where the College has a campus. 

The College Library is also an associate member of the North Coast Library Federation, which allows you to borrow and return materials from any Public or College library between Houston and Prince Rupert – free of charge!

How do I get a library card?

Starting January 1, 2008, your Student ID card is also your library card.

How do I get a library card if I'm not on campus?

Phone the Library with the following information and we will send you a card:

  • Name
  • Student Number
  • Address with postal code
  • Phone number
  • Fax or e-mail if available
  • Course or program you are registered in

How do I borrow books, videos or DVDs from the Library?

First you need a Library Card (see above). Then call the Library for assistance or search the online catalogue (WebCat). Once you have found the item you would like to borrow, place a request online using your PIN. 

Your library account is accessed online through WebCat and allows you to change your PIN, place holds, renew items, and view your account.

What are the loan periods and overdue fines?

Books – 3 weeks, 25 cents/day/item for overdue fines
Video/DVD – 1 week, 50 cents/day/item for overdue fines

What happens if I lose an item?

If you lose a library item, or destroy it so that it is no longer useable, you will be charged a replacement fee.

How do I access the journal databases from off-campus?

You need to be a registered student or staff at the College to access journal articles off-campus.  Check with the Library for more information.
