Amanda Beckett has been the lab tech and instructor at NWCC at the Prince Rupert campus since January 2017. She has a B.Sc in Environmental Science from Royal Roads, and did her diploma at NWCC in Applied Coastal Ecology. Amanda is also a designated Environmental Professional in training.
While Amanda was lucky enough to start her career with NWCC, she also took part in several summer student jobs as an environmental coordinator and a commercial fisheries validator. As a validator she spent her summers on Haida Gwaii, where she still travels to at least once a year.
No stranger to volunteer work, she has also volunteered with hatcheries, and briefly hummingbird banding. Recently, Amanda has joined the North Coast Ecology Center Society in hopes to assist in creating a space that will give others a sustainable, healthy, and responsible view of the North Coast.
Amanda’s areas of interest are ecotoxicology, sustainability, and water management.
When Amanda isn’t teaching or taking care of science labs she enjoys reading, fishing, road trips, beach combing and spending time with her dog.
